Helping Haiti

While we sit in front of our trading screens in the comfort of our homes or offices, the people of Haiti are facing a disaster of epic proportion. An estimated 50,000 - 100,000 lives have been lost in a massive 7.0 earthquake that struck close to the epicenter of Port-au-Prince, one of the most densely populated and socio-economically depressed regions in the world. The horrific devastation and loss of life is heartbreaking. Please take a moment to try to contemplate the magnitude of what has happened to this country, and consider extending whatever help you can offer.

One quick and easy way to contribute to the cause can be done in a minute or less from your cell phone right now. By simply texting the word "Haiti" to number 90999, $10.00 will be donated to the Red Cross Haiti disaster relief fund and charged to your cell phone account. The campaign has been hugely successful, with money said to be coming in at the rate of $200,000 an hour, with approximately $4 million contributed altogether so far. Some other ways to donate are listed below. All of the organizations listed here do incredible work and are highly regarded. Thank you! You can make a difference.
